“Teaching Remotely” Webinar Tuesday April 21st @ 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Responding to the COVID Crisis: Supporting Michigan’s Elementary School Educators and Children as they transition to “remote” learning.
COVID-19 has disrupted our lives in many ways including school closures. While schools have been slowly “digitally transforming,” the COVID-19 crisis is forcing administrators, teachers and their students to speed up that transformation. Join members of the University of Michigan’s Center for Digital Curricula for a conversation on how they are effectively supporting our teachers and children transitioning to teaching and learning at home – digitally.
Please register (free) and join us at a Zoom conversation with teachers, administrators, business leaders, and others in the community!

We will be at the 2020 MACUL Conference presenting:
“Multiple-Literacies + Project-Based Learning + NGSS-Aligned + Deeply-Digital = Transformed Curricula”
&
“Living the Digital Transformation Experience: Stories from the Classroom“
More about the Presentations:
Multiple-Literacies + Project Base Learning +NGSS-Aligned +Deeply Digital =Transformed CurriculaLocation: Amway Grand Hotel, Kendall
Date: Thursday, Mar 12 2:30 PM
Duration: 1 hour
About: Krajcik and Co at MSU have created stunning 3rd and 4th grade multiple-literacies, PBL, NGSS-aligned curricula. We added – nay, transformed – those curricula by re-representing them in a deeply-digital platform, e.g., enabling students to develop a range of artifacts (animations, videos, etc.), enabling student-student synchronous collaboration during artifact development, etc. We will discuss what is gained & lost in that transformation.

Living the Digital Transformation Experience: Stories from the ClassroomLocation: Amway Grand Hotel, Kendall
Date: Thursday, Mar 12 4:00 PM
Duration: 1 hour
About: K-12 teachers are, by and large, stuck in Substitute and Augment, in the parlance of the SAMR model of technology infusion. But, using a graphical, concept-map-like representation to create OER-based digital curricula, seems to be a catalyst for moving teachers to Modify and Redefine. Why? Teachers in our panel session will reflect on their “digital transformation experiences” and explore how K-12 can learn from their experiences.
